Although Summer has decided to make a comeback this week as temperatures soar back into the 90’s here in eastern NC, Autumn is right around the corner. Today I would like to share a few simple Fall decorating ideas that will hopefully get you inspired to welcome this wonderful season. Autumn is my favorite time of year by far.
You don’t have to spend a lot of money to decorate your home for Fall. One easy way to bring some Autumn decor into your home is to simply fill a glass container with dried black beans. Tuck in a few pine cones and some silk Fall leaves and you have an instant hint of Autumn in your home. Fill a few glass containers and place them on a mantel or table for more impact.
Feeling a little crafty?
I found a few plain paper mache apples in a discount bin at my local craft store a couple of years ago. I brought them home, decoupaged them with bits of old book pages and sprinkled them with glitter. I use them in my decor all year ’round but they really look great in my Fall vignettes. They look right at home nestled in with orange slices, pine cones and other berry picks from the craft store.
Who says candle holders are just for candles? For a bit of the unexpected try placing faux or even real apples on top of candle holders. Just don’t try to light the stems! lol.
A miniature pumpkin bought at the local grocery store fits perfectly atop one of my favorite mercury glass candle holders.
For another simple Fall decorating idea, fill a vase, ceramic pitcher or an other type of container you have on hand with dried wheat stems. You can usually buy dried wheat at your local craft store this time of year. It adds country charm to this mantle when placed on top a couple of wrapped books with some more pine cones.
Pine cones, faux berries and silk Fall leaves should be a staple in any collection of Fall decor. They are really cheap and have the ability to add an instant touch of Autumn to your home by just tucking them in here and there. I hope you enjoyed these simple Fall decorating ideas today. I can’t wait to feel the nice crisp air and welcome Fall at my doorstep.
