A Shabby To Chic Beach Rocking Chair Makeover & Master Bedroom Update

Hi All,

Today I am happy to share with you a “shabby to beach chic” rocking chair makeover I recently completed. I found this little rocking chair at a thrift shop a couple of months ago in the weathered, chippy condition you see here in my before picture below. Although it had seen better days it was a solid and sturdy piece and I knew I could bring it back to life.

Although many Shabby Chic Enthusiasts may have just kept it in it’s beloved “chippy” condition,  I wanted to go a different route. I scraped off a lot of the loose paint with a paint scraper, gave it a couple of coats of indoor/outdoor aqua blue paint and then gave it some personality.

I painted a soft white starfish on the seat, added the word “BEACH” with painted stenciled letters and glued a real starfish to the back of the rocking chair giving it a real beachy look. I love how this adorable Shabby Chic Beach Kiddie Rocking Chair turned out! It is now sitting at the Funky Chicken shop waiting for a new home. I am even offering free personalization on this piece and think it would make a great gift for some lucky little kiddo. What do you think of my upcycled pint size rocking chair?

Master Bedroom Makeover Update….

If you have been reading awhile you  may know that I have been planning a complete Master Bedroom Makeover and have been waiting for months to get started. Well, the time has finally come! We started the demo over the weekend by removing as much out of the room as possible and prepping the walls for paint….

We also tore up all of the carpeting. Well “we” consisted of my husband and son doing most of the pulling and tugging while I supervised.

Monday I started painting the upper section of the walls and am now ready to start the batten board wainscot on the lower half.  This is what it looks like right now…

UGH!  I am so excited to finally see my vision become a reality but all the mess, displacement and chaos stresses me out!

Patience, Patience…

If you would like to see the entire design plan for this room please read my post A Master Bedroom Mood Board .

The plan is to be finished painting by the end of the week and moving on to installing the  laminate flooring this weekend. Did I mention I am doing all of this while also juggling work, the shop and all the other every day chores that need to be done? Needless to say my house is suffering because of it. Anyone know a good cleaning lady who works for peanuts????

Please stay tuned to see more of my master bedroom transformation!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
