A Trendy Makeover: Vintage Mid Century Mod Kitchen Chairs

A Pair of Thrift Store Mid Century Mod Kitchen Chairs Get a Fresh New Look

Hi All,

I absolutely love redesigning thrift store furniture pieces. It has to be one of my favorite creative projects to work on. In the past, most of my furniture makeovers were done in a soft, shabby chic style with subdued shades of white, antique white and soft blues mixed with floral or check fabrics.

Lately I have been mesmerized by the trendy bright hues of lime greens, oranges, hot pinks and shocking blues that have been popping up in today’s home furnishing stores.

I found these two vintage mid century mod kitchen chairs at a local thrift shop for $15. Although they were a bit dated and drab I liked the design of them. I knew I could do something fun with them. They were also in really good condition, only in need of a little cosmetic work.

I started with a very bright lime green paint that would make them pop.lime green chair

I covered them in a gorgeous hot pink and white damask fabric that would compliment, as well as contrast with the lime green.hot pink damask fabric

These fun chairs are so bright you almost need sunglasses to look at them!

Although they really would not work in my own home, I LOVE these chairs! Even my husband was smitten with them when he discovered them sitting in the dining room waiting to be taken to the shop.

And, here they are at the shop snuggling up to an aqua blue beachy table I just built from simple pine boards. They are waiting for some hipsters to discover them and give them a new home. These redesigned vintage mid century mod kitchen chairs would look great in a brightly decorated beach home, don’t you think?

I had a lot of fun  working with these bright colors that are everywhere these days. I will be working with them again really soon!

I would have snapped up those babies too – love their new paint job! My daughter chose a similar color for her room – and yes, I do need a pair of shades when I enter!

My daughter who is having a baby girl, Chloe Annabell, is looking for this fabric that you used to cover some chairs. It is hot pink with white damask print. She wants me to make her a small board for hair bows and doesn’t need much. I can’t find it anywhere. Will you please help me?

    Thanks so much,

    Chantel
