A Holiday Trip to Hick’s Nursery

Over the Thanksgiving weekend my family and I traveled to Long Island NY (where I grew up) to visit family. Looking for something fun to do on Friday we decided to take a short road trip to Hick’s nursery on the north shore. In addition to the usual wreaths, trees and poinsettias you would find in a nursery they offer a variety of other things.
They have a huge gift shop filled with wonderful holiday gifts and decor. As a kid I used to come here to see the animated walk through Holiday stories and was tickled to find out the still do this. Filled with moving elves, mice, kids and Santa in an amazing backdrop of eye candy this was such a treat. We don’t have any place like this back home in North Carolina. Reminiscent of old department store windows at Christmastime it brings such a sense of nostalgia into the Holiday season.

After touring the walk through we stopped for a bite of gingerbread cookies at the store snack bar.

We stopped by to chat with Santa….

and took a peek at Santa’s reindeer before they had to head back to the North Pole!
Our afternoon at Hick’s nursery was a delightful one and we plan to stop by again next time we are in town for the holidays.
