A Shabby Chic Rose Inspired Tea Party Tablescape

Hello Friends,

With Spring in full swing and Mother’s Day right around the corner I thought it would be a good time to share with you a Shabby Chic Rose Inspired Tea Party Tablescape I created with upcycled and vintage finds. When I had my retail shop a few years back I offered Dress Up Tea Parties for little girls and I had such a great time hosting them! Sniff, sniff, I miss those days. The little girls loved getting dressed up and the Moms were tickled with the idea as well. I did many Tea Parties over the years, including Mother’s Day Teas.

A Mother's Day Tea Party

One of my favorite parts of the day was decorating the table for the tea party. With our busy lifestyles today folks just don’t have the time to host elegant parties on fancy china the way they did in the past. Mother’s Day is the perfect time to slow down and enjoy the day sipping tea and chatting with the wonderful ladies in our lives.

The base of my Shabby Chic Rose Inspired Tablescape began with a pretty pink and white floral tablecloth. I then dressed the table with vintage Moss Rose China, hand painted glassware and feminine touches.

You don’t have to go all out and spend a lot of time and money on food when hosting an elegant tea party. You can have just as much fun serving tea and fancy cookies. Vintage handkerchiefs make pretty napkins and don’t forget the vintage silverware!

Tea Parties can be a great way to celebrate a Birthday for a special lady as well. I placed a pretty vintage inspired votive holder at every place setting. They really add to the vintage charm of the table and can easily be given away as favors at the end of the day.

The centerpiece for the table consists of an upcycled mirror serving tray, my favorite pink candlestick and a silk floral arrangement I made from an antique tea pot that was missing its lid. Vintage inspired gift tags also dress up the table and make great little gifts.

Here is a little Before and After photo of the serving tray. It started out as a plain, vintage mirror with no personality.

Hand painted glassware  and a pair of ceramic bunnies gives the Shabby Chic Rose Inspired Tablescape a touch of creativity and whimsy.

Hosting a Tea Party can be a wonderful way to celebrate Mother’s Day, a Birthday or even baby and bridal showers. Tea parties give us a chance to relax and just be women, “Girlie Girls” if you will. Tea parties gives us an excuse to slow down, sit and visit with those important ladies in our lives. So, the next time you are planning a special event I hope you consider putting Grandma’s old china to good use and host a Tea Party!
