Happy Monday Everyone,
As you know, I have been working on my master bedroom for over two months now. It is slowly coming along nicely. Today I would like to share with you my “Upcycled Home Office Nook” that takes up a small space in the room. I don’t have an extra bedroom or a basement (I WISH I DID!) so the only place to have an office space is tucked away in my bedroom. I call it my “Upcycled Home Office Nook” because I reused things I already had.
The desk was ok but the top looked a bit drab and had some knicks in the paint. Instead of just giving it a quick touch up with paint, I decided to get a little more creative. I painted the top the same soft blue as the bedroom walls and stenciled it with the same damask design as the wall treatment. I then stenciled the word Believe on top of that. I had the stencil left over from my Staircase Makeover.
Believe is sort of my personal mantra. It reminds me to Believe In My Dreams, even when those dreams seem unattainable, when every step I take seems to be a struggle. I am a dreamer. When we give up on our dreams part of us dies.
You may remember the large window frame I had hanging above my bed before tearing apart the bedroom.
I loved it but had to find a new place for it since I purchased a HUGE horse painting reserved for that space.
I painted it white, distressed it a little bit and added chicken wire to the back. (There was no glass in this window frame.) I ditched the ugly old wall cabinet and hung the window above the desk.
It makes a wonderful bulletin board!
It’s a perfect place for keeping swatches of fabric, family photos, cards, etc. Just clip them on with painted clothespins! I loved how this piece turned so much that I created another Repurposed Vintage Window Bulletin Board to put in the shop. I am sure someone will wander in and love it just as much as I do.
And here is my Upcycled Home Office Nook the way it looks now. I love it. I think it is cute, clean and fresh.
I am still on the hunt for a wooden filing cabinet that can hold my printer and I just picked up a small $5 chair for the desk. It is in my garage waiting for a makeover. The chair that was originally in the room was too wide. It is now at the store waiting for a new home.
On another note, I have picked up a few treasures this week while out bargain hunting. We have so much space to fill up over at the shop that I have been on the lookout for inexpensive pieces to work on. Here is what I found this week…
They look pretty scary now but I can’t wait to start working on them. I got so excited when I found the chairs. Don’t they have great lines???
These vintage mid century mod chairs get a trendy, vibrant new look! Stay tuned!
Thanks so much for visiting. Have a wonderful day!
