Customizing Lamps With Paint To Coordinate With Your Décor
When decorating your home, finding the perfect accents can sometimes be elusive. You can customize generic pieces with a simple coat of paint or two to make them unique and compliment your existing décor.
I was staging this room a couple of months ago and the client wanted a pair of new lamps. I wanted to pull the greens out of the existing bedding so I went on the hunt for a pair of sage green lamps that didn’t break the bank.
After searching online and locally for quite a bit of time and coming up empty, I realized I would have to create what I was looking for.
I found a pair of lamps at my local discount store. I liked the shape and the scale was perfect for the room, however the gold color just was not turning me on. With a couple of coats of paint and slight distressing these lamps are now room ready.
The soft green paint adds a pop of color to the room and compliments the décor already in the space. Sometimes when decorating you have to think outside the box a little bit. If you cannot find what you have in your mind’s eye, then make it! Customizing lamps with paint is an easy way to make them meet your needs. Paint is cheap and an easy fix for many decorating dilemmas! I used one can of spray paint with primer to do two lamps at a cost of less than $5!
When looking for a particular item while decorating a room, don’t always look at the color. Consider its size and shape. If those elements work for you, consider updating it with some paint!
Happy Decorating!
