Today we will be taking a step away from decorating and exploring places to visit when traveling to Europe. I have been afflicted with a major case of Wanderlust now that my kids are older. My son is a young adult and my daughter will be graduating high school this year. If you have been following my blog for a while you may remember my recent post on my first trip to Europe and my day in Paris. It was amazing! I will be posting more about my trip and my time in Belgium in the near future. I have so much to share! I just found out that I will be able to accompany my husband again this coming October. I am so excited! I know we will be in Belgium again but we plan on doing some more exploring. I haven’t decided if I would like to go to Paris again to see more of this beloved city or perhaps see Germany. He is going to Germany in May and I cannot go with him. I am torn.
It is always a pleasure to talk to other writers who share the same passions as me. Recently, I was introduced to a new site and new friends at INSIDR.co. INSIDR is a friendly startup based in Paris that aims to make travel experiences amazing for those who have the travel bug like me. They provide so much information about traveling in Paris (yay!), but the interesting tips and recommendations they give are not limited to Paris or even just France. They have a wealth of information on several different European destinations on their website. Although I am completely in love with Paris and France, I do hope to see other places. Hmmm. Where to go first? Let’s explore a few pretty places to visit when Traveling To Europe.
Cruise Along The Canal in Venice
Venice is well-known around the world for obvious reasons; the beauty of the city and the canals that can be found throughout it. You can go along the Grand Canal, which goes on for 3.8 km and is the main canal in Venice. In the southern base of the Grand Canal, you can find Piazza San Marco.
There are also some other places around there that you should pay a visit to, such as Palazzo Ducale. This is the main public square of Venice and it is always lively.
Lido is another place worthy of a visit; it separates the Venice Lagoon from the Adriatic Sea, and it is also known as the hippest resort island in Venice.
When traveling to Europe, Venice has a lot of interesting activities that shouldn’t be missed. You can read an itinerary on spending time in Venice that has been made by the guys at INSIDR to help you get the best experience. For practical information read some of their other pieces such as where you can stay in Venice and public transportation access.
Of course, don’t forget about the foods! OMG. Italian food is by far my favorite food. Can you imagine having a slice of pizza in ITALY?!!!
Italian foods is among the best in the world, so you don’t want to miss it. Enjoy authentic Italian gelato while discovering the city. Aside from typical Italian foods, Venice has their own Venetian food. They are very proud of this, and it’s not without reason! You need to try typical Venetian foods like ‘sarde in saor’ or ‘ baccala mantecato’.
Eat like a local at the best local restaurants in Venice. Then end your night by visiting the best bars in Venice and try some classical Venetian drinks like a Bellini or Aperol Spritz.
If you still have a day or two to spare, there are places just outside of Venice that are worth a visit!
More Italian Food At Rome
Haven’t had enough Italian food? Let’s go to the capital! Enjoy your breakfast at the best places to get breakfast in Rome. Then try the best authentic pasta carbonara in Rome.
Each of these places has their own signature taste and everything is amazing! To get the full Italian experience go to these places and have an aperitivo.
And of course, you can have some fun at the end of the day by going to one of these live music bars and venues in Rome. With tips from Insidr, you can totally have a budget holiday in Rome! I like that idea!
Embrace The Calm Atmosphere of Copenhagen
Denmark has been known as one of the happiest and most peaceful places on earth, and could be perfect for your next destination! There are a lot of things you can do in Copenhagen, ideally you can do it in around 3 days with this itinerary from INSIDR. Go to the classic Tivoli Gardens and walk along the old harbor of Nyhavn.
Explore Vesterbro; a district that was previously a red light district of Copenhagen, but is now a very hip area. Art lovers can spend time visiting the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. This museum takes around 35 minutes to reach from the center of Copenhagen, but it really is worth the extra travel time. Public transportation in Copenhagen is a great system so you can get anywhere without any trouble!
Fun and Affordable Few Days in Porto
Porto has a lot of things for travelers to enjoy, it also has amazing food. Spend two days in Porto by following these recommendations from INSIDR and don’t miss anything that you should do in this city. You also have a ton of choices when it comes to places to stay in Porto. It could be an unforgettably fun holiday!
If that’s not enough, you can always continue your trip to Lisbon and enjoy Portugal for a few more days.
I know I will be visiting the folks at INSIDR when I start planning my next trip to Europe. For those of you who also have the Travel Bug and dream of traveling to Europe, where do you want to go????
