Creating a Cottage Style Bedroom

posted in: Cottage Decorating | 16
Little by little I am redecorating my home. Something that is long over due. Opening my shop in 2006 has kept me busy and things around the house were neglected. Today I will give you a peek into my bedroom.
I have been looking for a nightstand for my husband’s side of the bed that had some storage space.
I found this little brown guy at my favorite thrift shop for a whopping $5.00! I wasn’t in love with the design and its not made of real wood. Its pressboard and reminds me of something you would find in a motel. I figured it would do until I could find something I “Loved”.
I primed it and painted it this beautiful blue with purple undertones that I have fallen in love with.
After distressing it and putting it next to the bed and looking at it I’ve decided I LOVE it! The color really has given it a new feel.
Don’t you just love this lamp? Its ceramic and I found a pair of them at a thrift shop over a year ago. I think I paid less than $5 for the pair. I covered some new lampshades and now they sit on both sides of the bed.
The next project was to tackle the chest of drawers on my side of the bed. The white was old and tired looking. I grabbed my paint brush and gave it two coats of the same lovely paint color….
And Voila! I added a vintage runner to the top ands some accessories. I love how it turned out. The blue with the white showing through reminds me of Wedgewood china.
The next thing I am going to tackle in bedroom is my bed. I created this bed out of old closet doors years ago. I crackle painted it with white over blue. My plan is to create a patchwork quilt looking coverlet with some beautiful vintage chenille and floral fabrics as well as some new ones. I can’t wait to get started but I will probably have to wait a few weeks. I have so much on my plate at the moment.

Stay tuned for the reveal of my new cottage style bedroom! Yesterday I started redecorating my livingroom by painting it a new color. I’ve rearranged my furniture and am now ready to add the accessories. I LOVE how it is coming out and can’t wait to show you!!!! Stay tuned….

Thanks for stopping by today!

    Hi,
I just became a follower of your wonderful blog. These dresser makeovers are great love how they turned out. As I scrolled through your blog I saw the information on the paint sprayer. I just said to my sister that I would get on oru blog and ask if anyone knows of a good paint sprayer and viola there your blog was 🙂 I too read reviews about clogging and dripping, so was not sure I wanted to attempt painting with one–so thank you so much for posting about this on your blog. Do you still love it? Have a great week. Your newest follower, Jeanette
