Summer Blooms From My Cottage Garden…and a Sneak Peek!

Happy Wednesday Dudes & Dudettes!

Its been pretty hot here in Eastern NC and we are pretty much in a drought 🙁 . We’ve had one quick rain storm in the past two months or so. My grass is now HAY as it is all brown and crunches under my feet. I’d love to water but our water bill is too high as it is. I have however been dilligently tending to my gardens and would like to share some photos with you today.

This is a shot of my back garden right off the back of the house. I call it my “Garden of Weedin'” as there are a few pesky weeds constantly trying to take over. I am not sure what they are but they spread like wild fire. I love the cute little bistro set nestled on the grass. I picked up the table at a thrift shop. Its got a glass top and the plan is to do a mosaic tile design on it one day.

One of my favorite perennial flowers is Rudbeckia A.K.A Black Eyed Susans. They love the sun and are drought tolerant. They are so pretty and have come up wonderfully this year.summer gardensummer garden rudbeckiaHere is another version of them. I love this color.black eyed susansLast year I planted this butterfly bush and it is coming along nicely. It was so small when I planted it last summer and now it stands about 4 feet tall. It seems to be thriving in its part shade location. The sun here in NC can be quite strong.butterfly bushLast year I bought a small Hydrangea bush on clearance at Lowe’s for $5. I planted it up against the house where it gets a lot of shade and morning sun. Its still pretty small, maybe 1 foot high as I made the mistake of cutting it back in the fall. It is blooming now for the first time and it is gorgeous!hydrangeasMy begonias are looking great too!begoniasSome summer Rose blooms!summer rosesWell, that’s wraps up the tour of my summer garden for today.

I have been very busy inside the house working on redesigning my dining room. Its almost finished and I am chomping at the bit to post about it. Here is a sneak peek at what I’ve been doing in  there….wallStay tuned for the big reveal!!!!!

Have a wonderful day!
