My Winter Mantel Mantle

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I have not been posting much but I have been BUSY with other things! I have just moved my blog from blogger to wordpress and that was very labor intensive, I’ve learned alot from the experience. I still have some tweaking to do but how do you like it so far?

I have also been very busy working on some home decorating projects and adding many new items to my website. For those of you who sell online, you know how much work that is in itself!

Today I would like to share with you my mantel for the winter season…..

I’ve kept the color pallette light with blues and whites with some added shimmer and glitter. I began by switching out the window mirror I have had up there forever with this large mirror. I picked it up a thrift shop for $10, painted it aqua blue and distressed it. I placed the mercury glass pillar candle holders my hubby got me for Christmas on either side of a vintage basket filled with pinecones.

The pillar candles on top are actually flameless candles I bought at a discount store. I embelished them with some rhinestones and button for added interest and glitz. These candles have been popping up all over and they are really made of wax. They run on batteries and are a great way to add candlelight without burning your house down. Being that the candles are so close to tha walls I thought this was a good idea PLUS there is no melted wax dripping all over!

I’ve also placed 2 star fish, a white pitcher, birdcage and some “snow” covered pinecones in various spots of the mantle. To get this look just add some spackle to the tips of an ordinary pinecone.

Don’t you just love the cute little white glittered “Snow” birds? I got the idea from a fellow blogger Confessions of a Plate Addict. If you haven’t been over to her blog yet you must check it out!

The birds are dollar tree finds and are actually tea light candle holders. I painted them white and added white glitter. Here is a “before” picture of my little feathered friends.

I think I like them better in the after stage all glittery. Don’t you?

Well, Thanks for stopping by today to take a peek at my fireplace mantle all dressed up  winter!

And now for an announcement!

    Hi Lisa,

Thanks for stopping by my blog and for leaving a sweet comment! I agree, the white paint and glitter really makes *your* Dollar Tree birds sing now. 🙂 I’m looking forward to taking a gander here at your blog. And we are planning to go to Emerald Isle this summer, so I will definitely plan on visiting your store. We came to Emerald Isle last summer for the first time and adored how quiet it is. My mom went down a few days ahead of me, my husband and my son, and she visited Swansboro and raved about the town. We ran out of time to visit so I’m looking forward to getting back down there.

    Take care,
    Erin

Hi Lisa! Your mantel is so pretty! I love the mercury glass candlesticks and your candles are lovely! I have been thinking about trying the flameless ones. I am glad you liked the snow birds. I see some plates on the wall in the mirror…love it! I’m glad I’m not the only one who keeps my plates on the wall! lol Happy week!…hugs…Debbie

Beautiful mantel display! Thanks for stopping by my blog and saying hello :0) The program I use to create the photo collage is http://www.Picnik.com. Most of it is FREE and has great options for photo editing and such. The specific collage format I use is part of the premium package and costs a little extra. Either way it’s a great program worth checking out…I used it for months without paying for the upgrade. Hope that helps, let me know if I can answer any other questions. Blessings, Katy

Very pretty! The glittered birds are a great idea, and I love those battery operated candles, too! I use them in every room of my house….

Those birdies are MUCH prettier after you painted and glittered them! I’ve been searching for Dollar Tree birdies with no luck! I’m also loving your aqua candle holders!
