A Vintage Christmas Mantel Gets A Retro Kitschy Vibe

Even if you are not a vintage freak like I am you may tend to find yourself rather nostalgic during the holidays. Christmas memories from our childhoods usually come to mind during the holiday season and I am no different. Going to Grandma’s house every Christmas morning after we opened our gifts at home was a family tradition and it still is today. Decorating for Christmas with vintage items can keep those cherished memories alive. Today I would like to share a kitschy retro vintage Christmas mantel that gives me a nostalgic feeling.

Creative Christmas Candle Holders

I created this set of frosted vintage inspired holiday candles by gluing vintage Christmas card images to the front of glass containers, added a glittered border and polka dots and then sprinkled each vessel with white glitter to give it a frosted look. They look awesome with flickering tealights in them at night.

Vintage Ornaments

Displaying a boxed set of vintage Christmas ornaments and tucking a few loose ornaments in your Christmas decor can add instant vintage charm to your holidays. This boxed set of vintage bell ornaments was a lucky thrift store find. I love the graphics on the box so I displayed the whole box as is.

Vintage Christmas Albums

If you have a favorite Christmas album or two from your childhood, wipe off the dust and display them on a shelf or mantel. The graphics of vintage albums are wonderful. I listened to Christmas with the Chipmunks over and over at Grandma’s house when I was little. This vintage album finds a prominent place in my home every year at Christmas.

Vintage Milk Glass

I collect milk glass containers of all shapes and sizes and have them on display year round. Every year I fill them with ornaments and use them in my Christmas displays. I placed two on my retro vintage Christmas mantel and filled them with hand painted red and white polka dotted ornaments.
