How To Make Reusable Disinfecting Wipes At Home

posted in: A Day In The Life | 0

In today’s world of living in the Covid-19 pandemic, finding disinfecting wipes in the store is like finding GOLD. The shelves are empty. To get one you have to just happen to be there at the exact moment they are stocking the shelves. I got lucky a couple of weeks ago and was able to get two canisters of Clorox wipes. So, what do we do when we run out? How do we keep ourselves safe? Today I am going to show you how to make reusable, disinfecting wipes at home.

To make your own reusable disinfecting wipes at home you will need:

  • A Plastic Tub With Lid
  • A Bottle of Peroxide OR Rubbing Alcohol
  • Package Of Reusable Multipurpose Cloths

I found these reusable multi-use cloths at my local dollar store. They are quite large so I cut each one in half. Put the dry wipes in the plastic tub, add a half a bottle of rubbing alcohol OR Peroxide in the tub. Please do not mix the alcohol or peroxide. They both have the ability to kill germs on contact.

Close the lid, let the cloths soak up the alcohol or peroxide and you are good to go!

When using your wipes, wring each one out over the tub so it isn’t dripping all over the place. I use these wipes at home for wiping down surfaces and anything we bring home from the stores. When I am done I rinse out the wipe and put it back in the tub. Any germs left on the cloth will be obliterated once back in the tub. If you cannot find these type of cloths in your local discount store you could also use clean cloths like wash cloths, cut up white T-shirts, etc. I suggest rinsing out all the rags and changing out the peroxide or alcohol once in a while.

Right now, I am using the store bought wipes only when I am out shopping for necessities in the stores. I keep them in my purse in a zip-loc bag. I wipe down the cart and keep the wipe in my hand while I am shopping, using them for my hands as I go. If I run out of store bought, disposable wipes I will be making my own by using paper towels and rubbing alcohol in a baggie.

Please Friends… Be Smart, Be Responsible, Stay Safe and Keep Others Safe!

Stay Safe During Covid-19 Pandemic

Now you know how to make your own reusable, disinfecting wipes at home. I hope this post helps you all stay safe. I know this is a difficult time for everyone. We all want our lives to go back to the way they were. But we are where we are and we need to be smart and considerate of others. Every time I look at the news I get upset to see so many people out there being careless and even downright selfish by going out without masks on, disregarding the rules and throwing caution to the wind. My father has a chronic, life threatening lung disease, my 93 year old Grandmother suffers from asthma, my son also has asthma and gets sick rather easily. My husband is a type 1 Diabetic and I have Fibromyalgia which compromises my system. I don’t want to lose any of my loved ones due to other people’s carelessness. So please, be smart, be safe and be responsible. May you and your family be healthy and safe. This too shall pass!

HUGS!
