Homemade Hot Cocoa Recipe

posted in: Country Recipes | 2
Lately I have been reading alot of labels at the grocery store and cannot believe how many chemicals we are putting into our bodies. My children suffer from eczema, my husband is diabetic and I have fibromyalgia (we are just a bunch of sickies!). I figure these chemical additives aren’t helping us much and can possibly be aggravating our conditions. I am now trying to buy items that are organic and more natural without an ingredient list a mile long. If I can’t pronounce it I won’t buy it. I have also been making things from scratch and here is a recipe for those who love chocolate. I am a chocoholic and my daughter loves hot cocoa. The ingredient list is simple and I think it’s the best tasting hot chocolate I’ve ever had!
Here is what I did…
Homemade Hot Cocoa
Ingredients:
2 cups milk
1 Heaping Tablespoon of Cocoa Powder (found in the baking aisle)
3-4 tablespoons of Granulated Sugar (to taste)
1 Teaspoon of vanilla extract
Directions:
Place all ingredients in a small saucepan and stir over a medium heat until well blended and hot. Do not boil and be careful not to scorch milk. Pour into mugs and enjoy! Makes enough to fill about 2 mugs.

I agree so much. My husband and I argue all the time about what we eat. I would rather eat higher fat (butter, sour cream, cream cheese) then processed things. I am trying to go back to the basics with my cooking.
