Heavenly Hoosier Table! A Country Makeover On A Budget

Today I would like to take a few moments to share my latest makeover that just tickles my fancy!

A few weeks ago I was strolling around one of my usual thrift store haunts and was a bit bummed because I was coming up empty. Nothing really was jumping out at me screaming “Take me home!” that day.  I pulled up in the parking lot and headed over to the furniture warehouse in the back. It was a bit chilly that day and there was no heat in the building. I wandered in, nodded a cordial “Hello” to the nice elderly gentleman that volunteered at the shop and proceeded to take a “Quick” look around.  Not much was speaking to me, and alot of the furniture pieces were priced on the high side and that’s when I saw it….

A vintage Hoosier table with a charming enamel table top. I glanced down at the price tag and my eyes grew wide. Did that really say $20???? !!!! I bent over to make sure I wasn’t missing any zeros and yes it was only $20.00. Yipee! It was screaming Take Me Home!

It had a cute little drawer for storage and the cabinet area was great. The dingy white paint job left it looking abit drab, something you could imagine being in Grandpa’s garage littered with tools and what~nots. I loved the caracter of the enamel top and KNEW I could make look great with a simple coat of paint. RED paint that is!

When I saw this piece my first thought was to give it a makeover and sell it but the more I thought about it, and after I saw it in RED I changed my mind. I have sold pieces that I LOVED and ended up with seller’s remorse. It now sits proudly in my breakfast room where it fits perfectly.

In kepping with the “enamel theme” I hung my collection of vintage enamelware bowls and a pot on the wall above it. I’ve dressed the table with a bunch of  my favorite vintage kitchen collectibles including cookbooks, cookie cutters, vintage mason jars filled with flour, etc. I had a “Baking” theme in mind. I LOVE my vintage Hamilton Beach mixer. Circa 1930’s it still works! It is one of my pride and joys!

I filled a vintage milk bottle with a bunch of cheerful sunflowers I got from the local floral department at a local grocery store. The yellow really pops I think and adds to the country charm.vintage kitchen collectibles

So folks, that’s my latest thrift store find makeover and I am very happy with the results! What do YOU think? Leave me a comment, I’d love to hear from you!

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you come back soon!
