An Old Metal Bait Cage Gets a New Life As A Cool Pendant Light.

Happy October Blogland Friends!

Today I wanted to share with you a quick and easy project I just completed. I found this old vintage bait basket at a thrift shop. To be honest, I was not completely sure what it actually was at first but loved the rustic look of it. I knew I could come up with a new use for it. When you are a treasure hunter like I am you learn pretty early to grab those things that speak to you, even if you have no idea what you are going to do with it or where you are going to put it! Too many times I have passed on something only to kick myself later.

I brought it home and stuck it in a box in the garage, where it sat for months. One day I was sifting through my boxes, taking a mental inventory of things I needed to work on and spotted the old metal bait basket. That’s when a light went off in my head! Pun intended! What a cool pendant light this old relic would make!

With a simple Swag Kit I bought online, some chain from the hardware store, an old chandelier plate and some patience, I created this really cool Upcycled Vintage Bait Basket Pendant Light .

Although this light would look great in a Beach Inspired Cottage, anyone who is looking for a unique, rustic, even industrial style light fixture this baby would be a great choice. The neat part is that with the swag kit, this upcycled bait basket light can be placed anywhere because it plugs right into any wall outlet and there is a nifty on and off switch right on the cord.

I had so much fun with this project that I am sure I will be looking for more items to convert into light fixtures.
