Clever Flower Containers For Your Garden Bouquets

Creative and Clever Flower Containers That Will Make Your Garden Blooms Pop

Everyone loves flowers right? We use them to add color, beauty and a touch of nature to our homes and our celebrations. Whether they adorn a table in your quaint little kitchen or are the focal point at an elegant wedding display, flowers are a common element in design. While simple glass vases are usually standard vessels for our beloved floral arrangements sometimes it is fun to get a little creative and give our bouquets personality. Today I am going to inspire you with a few clever flower containers that may have you rethinking that generic glass vase.

Vintage Thermoses

Vintage thermoses are wonderful for picnics, fishing and tailgating but they also make perfect flower vases. A simple bouquet of white daisies really take on a country feel when placed in this vintage thermos.

Upcycle Those Cans

My husband makes an eggplant parmigiana dish that is to die for. The recipe calls for a few cans of San Marzano tomatoes and I have always admired the labels of these cans. The colors work well in my country kitchen and they look even better filled with flowers. They would make wonderful centerpieces for an Italian themed dinner party too! Now that’s a clever flower container!

Vintage Bottles

I collect vintage bottles and have quite a few of them sitting in my window sill. Small vintage bottles work well as bud vases and larger bottles can hold a more prominent bouquet.

Pretty Pitchers

This old weathered metal pitcher makes a wonderful vessel for a bunch of Knockout Roses cut from my summer garden. I don’t exactly have a green thumb and Knockout Roses are right up my alley. They are so much easier to grow than the traditional kind and they bloom like crazy! Look for vintage pitchers at thrift stores, flea markets and antique shops.

Beautiful Buds

I love vintage milk glass and am happy when I can occasionally but a few pieces of my collection to good use. A grouping of small bud vases with a single rose bud adds a touch of romance to this shelf. I bought the lovely silk roses at Hobby Lobby. They have an awesome collection of silk floras and they go on sale quite frequently.

Mason Jar Love

Painted or plain, mason jars are hot, hot, hot right now in home decor. These painted mason jars make a colorful table centerpiece when filled with brightly colored flowers and grouped together on a wooden tray. You may remember these from my last post Staging For HGTV’s Beachfront Bargain Hunt Renovation in Emerald Isle.

Recycle, Reuse and Repurpose

This is a fun one. An old pair of rubber boots can easily be repurposed into a flower vase. Slip a glass jar filled with water into the bottom for stability and add a bunch of your favorite flowers. Voila! Another clever flower container!

If you are not an avid gardener or aren’t lucky enough to have a lavish cutting garden, you can purchase a bouquet or two from your local grocery store or florist. Bring a touch of color and nature into your home and look beyond that plain glass vase. Look for your own clever flower containers. They don’t have to break the bank. Go shopping at thrift shops, yard sales and flea markets and enjoy the thrill of the hunt! If it holds water I am sure it will make a neat flower container. Not water proof? You can also use silk flowers!

Do you have a few clever flower containers of your own? What have you used? I would love to hear your ideas!
