Before and After: A Pair Of Vintage Canisters Get A Makeover

Before and After: A Couple Of Vintage Finds Get A New Look

Hi All,

Who doesn’t love a good before and after story? Today I would like to share one with you. It’s no secret that I love hunting for outdated items that can be brought back to life. I found this pair of vintage wooden kitchen canisters at one of my favorite haunts a few months back. They were out dated and had no personality but I knew with a little creativity they could be “kitchen ready” in no time.Vintage Thrift Store Canisters

The first canister got a couple of coats of aqua blue paint and some distressing. I added some pink gingham paper and a vintage inspired rose seed packet image to the front, really giving it a Shabby Chic inspired look.

The nice part about these canisters are the fact that they feature a pull out plastic insert for freshness. You can put cookies, sugar packets, tea bags or even Fido’s treats in them. I am really happy with how this Shabby to Chic Rose Inspired Kitchen Canister turned out and can see it sitting in a pretty, cottage style kitchen. So sweet!

I wanted to do something a little different with the other canister so I decided to give it a French Country look. I painted it Antique White and distressed it (of course). I added a French inspired label to the front and Voila! This upcycled French Country Canister is worthy of any Frenchy kitchen.

Before and After:

I think these old, worn out canisters turned out pretty snazzy. They may have ended up hidden away in a back corner of a cabinet in their “before” state but now they can be proudly displayed right out on the counter of any vintage, shabby chic style kitchen. Don’t you think?

Flea markets are chock full of forgotten pieces that are just waiting for someone to pick up, take home and breath new life into. It’s amazing what a little paint and creativity can do. Happy treasure hunting!

Thanks so much for visiting today!
